ZKM | Zentrum für Kunst und Medien (Center for Art and Media) in Karlsruhe, Germany redefines the idea of a cultural institution by merging art, technology, and research. I designed a branding system that reflects this dual identity as both historical archive and experimental laboratory. The visual language bridges preservation and innovation, positioning ZKM as a platform for shaping contemporary media culture.

Poster Series
I used the building’s structure as the foundation and layered it with expanding forms to echo ZKM’s spirit of experimentation and preservation, where structure meets chaos.

Collateral
The rotated K introduces movement and experimentation, while the dashed grid extends the building’s framework across the stationery. Bright neons bring warmth and approachability to the institutional language.

Print-Based Each ticket becomes an invitation to reimagine ZKM. Modular type and layered folds turn an everyday object into part of the brand experience.

Calendar I designed the calendar to unfold from order into expression. Its three-column system organizes content while revealing a poster on the reverse side.

Website I translated the visual language into a digital platform that balances clarity with energy. The bilingual site uses color to distinguish event types, improving navigation and overall user experience.

Spatial ApplicationI brought the system into physical space. Grids, arrows, and typographic hierarchies create orientation while maintaining the visual language’s precision.
